Sociological Perspective
The family is one of the fundamental institutions of the society. In Genesis, God began with the family as the foundation of what would become a fallen world. Paternal absenteeism is a social dilemma that begins with the breakdown of the family. As a result, the effects of this problem, go beyond the walls of the home and reach into the cracks and crevices of a world waiting to be changed. Broken homes lead to broken churches. Broken churches lead to broken communities. Broken communities lead to broken nations and the cycle continues on. At this juncture, the researcher will briefly look at paternal absenteeism and how it affects the society. Additionally, the causes of paternal absenteeism will also be highlighted in an attempt to gain a better understanding of the detrimental dynamics of the absentee father.
